Vintage 1920s Parisian Cufflinks @ Tender Buttons

I dropped in to Tender Buttons the other day to find replacement buttons for my creme double-breasted action back, the originals having been ruined at the dry cleaner. I did find some very nice looking Italian horn -  light brown with a sort of distressed appearance. As the name of the shop would suggest, the emphasis is on the buttons, but there also happened to be a display case full of vintage Parisian cuff links circa 1920-1930 that looked absolutely exquisite.

  1. I had never before seen cufflinks from the 20's-30's with the toggle mechanism pictured. Typically links from that era were either double sided or had a baton connecting with a chain to the decorative side. I associate the toggle fitting with post WW2. I suspect the links pictured were converted into cufflinks from earrings or pieces from a dress suite of 20's-30's origin with a modern toggle fitting added.

  2. Hi Lucky,
Interesting points. I'm certainly not knowledgeable enough about links to date these one way or another! Your suspicion sounds like a pretty good guess to me, and it would probably be worth confirming with the staff at Tender Buttons.
    Thanks
